| The Hill Group has managed hundreds of conferences for our clients. These have involved all aspects of logistical and substantive support, from program concept design and agenda planning and production, to logistics, facilitation, presentation, and preparation of proceedings.
Hannah Kim currently serves as the Project Manager for contracts with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI), Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR), and the Office of Science Policy Analysis (OSPA). She has also managed and served as the Project Manager on contracts with the Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Security Service (DSS) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Hannah Kim’s responsibilities include, operating as the chief point of contact for clients; create, maintain, and assess project scope statements, budgets, and work breakdown structures; supervise account executives including training, directing, and assignment of tasks; review and approve project deliverables prior to production; contract with subject matter experts and consultants; and provide technical writing and editing support. In addition, she revised HG’s Project Management Notebook and is responsible for keeping it current. Hannah Kim repeatedly receives praise from clients for her professionalism, her skill in managing project details, and her courtesy and knowledge in being of assistance to them. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from James Madison University.
Alexandra Fatula currently serves as the Project Manager for contracts with the Indian Health Service (IHS), as well as the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). Ms. Fatula manages six (6) contracts with the Hill Group, and is responsible for the development and tracking of project budgets, work breakdown structures, and ensuring efficient and effective execution of contract tasks. Ms. Fatula possesses the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, and has been providing project management and strategic communications support for over five (5) years to a variety of clients in the Federal consulting industry. Her areas of expertise include project management, training development and facilitation, as well as business process redesign, and risk management. Ms. Fatula has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Go Heels!
Joan Kim, Project Manager, currently provides support to the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (NIH), the Office of Science Policy Analysis (NIH), the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the Indian Health Service through the coordination of pre-conference, on-site, and post-conference activities. Ms. Kim has extensive experience in researching and selecting event venues; negotiating contracts; coordinating client and participant communications; handling travel reimbursements and speaker invitations; managing registrations; managing databases; providing logistical support; executing site-setup; monitoring deliverables; coordinating various vendors and services (audio-visual, catering, transcription, on-site support); procuring travel arrangements and administering post-conference activities including conference evaluations, reimbursements and final invoices. Ms. Kim has a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland.
Amanda Burke, Account Executive, supports a variety of Indian Health Service projects through work for the Division of Diabetes Treatment and Prevention (DDTP). Ms. Burke has over three (3) years of event management, communications, and marketing experience. Ms. Burke is working on projects within the Social Marketing/Public Outreach tasks for IHS/DDTP to include an electronic newsletter, fact sheets, and website maintenance. Ms. Burke attended the University of Maryland and has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
Alejandra Negroponte, Account Executive, currently supports multiple projects for the National Institute of Health (NIH). Ms. Negroponte projects include work for the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI), the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR) and for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Ms. Negroponte has three years of event planning and marketing experience in the Washington, DC area. Ms. Negroponte graduated from Georgetown University’s, School of Foreign Service, with a Bachelor of Science in Culture and Politics.
Carina May is focused on internal company projects related to development and maintenance of client and consultant relationships. She works with the executive team on management and writing of proposals, sourcing of science writers and consultants, social media, and marketing items. She also currently manages a client communications contract with the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS) and works on coordinating meetings for the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues (PCSBI). She has previously provided support for a variety of multi-faceted NIH projects including establishment of the Council of Councils and related meetings, the development of NCCAM’s 3rd strategic plan, and activities of the National Commission on Digestive Diseases. Ms. May attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising Management.
Carmel Scharf, Account Executive, supports several NIH projects and offices, including the Division of Program Coordination, Planning and Strategic Initiatives and the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research. Ms. Scharf also provides support for projects for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Scharf has 2 years of experience in meeting and event planning, and has graphic design experience. Ms. Scharf attended Wellesley College and has a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Gender Studies.
Heather Coote, Account Executive, supports several NIH projects for offices including the Office of Science Policy Analysis, and the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives. Additionally, she lends support to projects for the Division of Diabetes Treatment and Prevention within the Indian Health Service. Ms. Coote is experienced in planning, marketing and managing a wide variety of events. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the George Washington University and an MPH from Emory University.
Jenifer Lesan, an Account Executive, currently supports NIH projects for the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR) and National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), as well as Indian Health Service (IHS). Ms. Lesan has over 10 years of experience in conference management, overseeing all logistical arrangements, including researching and visiting possible meeting sights, negotiating hotel contracts, managing speaker arrangements, preparing all conference attendee materials, managing all contractor negotiations (A/V, translation services, etc.) and managing conferences on-site for international business conferences, meetings, forums, as well as association conferences and meetings. Ms. Lesan attended Arizona State University and has a Bachelor of Science in Public Programs.
Wade Carpenter, Associate Account Executive, provides administrative assistance to the President and Hill Group staff. Mr. Carpenter also works closely with and provides accounting support to the Controller. He is becoming proficient in Deltek’s GCS Premier accounting system. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Salisbury University.
